Commissions

Overview

Commissioning your own work of art is an important moment. Whether you want a portrait of a loved one or a painting of a special place, I fully understand that it matters to you. So, I promise to work closely with you to create a meaningful piece of art that you can treasure for a lifetime. The process is surprisingly simple and easy – please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

"Betty - commission", 2021 | Oil on canvas, 1' x 1' (30 x 30cm)

How does it work?

As a first step, send me as much information as you can: the subject, your preferred medium (oils, acrylic, pencil, mixed media, etc.), a rough size, preferred colours, photos, sketches, examples and so on. There is no obligation at this stage.

We can then discuss your requirements in more detail. Once I’ve got a clear idea of what you want and we’re both happy with the brief, I’ll ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit to cover ongoing costs and send you a simple contract with an agreed timescale.

Regular progress reports

I’ll keep you up to date with regular progress reports. As soon as your artwork is complete, I’ll send you photos for your approval.

Once it’s been approved, and the remaining 50% fee is paid, I’ll arrange for the artwork’s properly packaged, tracked and insured delivery.

Please Note: As commissions are bespoke works, custom-made to each client’s specific requirements, you will be unable to cancel your order once payment is taken. Artwork is non-returnable.
